Chapter- I
It probably feels useless to recount the story now since the
girl probably never wants to speak with me again, still nonetheless, I can’t
really stop myself from writing this documentary.
I can still remember the first day I contacted her. Contrary
to the Titanic movie, I couldn’t smell the fresh smell of the china vases, but
I could smell the fresh spring blossoms, the slightly chilly winds, novelty in
the air and all in all, the milieu was simply magnificent.
A little preface to the story would be necessary here before
we plunge headfast into the story.
I was, and still am, a ridiculous guy in every sense. My
sense of humor is pretty wacked up and I make the weirdest jokes sometimes, but
hey, sometimes they actually make sense. I am a Leo, and by definition an
arrogant prick, usually indolent and occasionally insane. However, getting back
to the task at hand, I had recently survived the worst Valentine’s Day
possible, due credits to a couple of dear friends (whom I have almost
successfully severed ties with).
The wreck I was in, had sincerely submerged my already dismal
life into more hopeless pursuits. I tried talking with a lot of people, I
sincerely tried texting, calling, pinging on Facebook/google talk etc. Pretty
much nothing seemed to be working. Watching movies/TV series/animes were a
temporary bliss to obliviousness.
It was around that time, that I noticed a rather stupid
picture of a girl on Facebook. To be honest, I had no intention of anything
more than killing time. She had this horrendous dressing sense, and was sitting
on a chair with both hands supporting her dragged chin. Her hair was having
fits, her spectacles reeking of monotonic languor and in a nutshell, she was the
perfect* girl for the time being. Oh, and she had a cover photo of Ryuk, the
protagonist Shinigami, of Death Note (an anime).
I was in one of my generous moods that day (for reasons best
known to me) and decided to send a friend request to that *random* girl. An
essential point to mention here would be that I had a common friend with this
girl. Being familiar with Facebook, I was pretty much used to girls not
accepting friend requests (nothing majorly insulting in it). However, as is
usual, I do not really keep a count of the friend requests I send, and was in
my usual nonsensical mood all day.
It was around evening, that this common friend, YYYY pinged
me on Facebook, literally screaming “Did you send a friend request to XXXXX?”
to which I remarked, “XXXX, who??” Then I searched on Facebook for this
creature and saw that I had indeed sent her a friend request. I was instantly
enraged at this insolent girl’s audacity, she had sincerely crossed her limits.
Reject me- fine- why tell common friends about it??
Now YYYY, is one girl, who is very casual and doesn’t really
bother much into the granularity of ideals or events. Now, I was to sit there
and think of a reply to YYYY, and thanks to her sharp and poignant temperament I
managed to convince her without much ado that I sent her a request because I
thought she liked anime.
However, in anger, more or less, I immediately sent the
*random girl* a message remarking her audacity at telling YYYY about the friend
request. Had she not liked my profile, she should have simply rejected it
(which seems entirely logical). I reiterated my only standpoint that I sent her
the request based on our mutual love for animes. (Animes are real good, watch them!)
Oh, and I also clarified to her, that I didn’t send her a love request or
anything of the sort. I wasn’t trying to hit on her.
Speaking unreservedly, I think my promptness took the girl by
surprise: she immediately apologized and sent me a friend request back (I had
withdrawn mine) and clearly mentioned that she had misunderstood my noble*
intentions. I was ready to accept her, but I thought since I was on the higher
ground, it’d be best not to accept her right away.
We spoke for an hour or two that day, about “why the seas are
boiling hot and whether pigs have wings”. She spoke well, and after some
persuasion from her (though I wouldn’t have needed any) I said, just to avoid
any obvious suspicion (from YYYY) I would accept her the day after. We shared
our blog links, and she didn’t waste time in praising my writing skills (deservedly)
and I tried to appreciate hers (it was a bit of a farce though) and I tried my
level best to praise her as well. All in all, I was en-route to forgetting my
very recent horrendous past.
I didn’t wait for the next day, I accepted her half-an-hour after we
said goodbye for the day. Oh, and I also took her Gmail id, just in case. This
was the start of the *XXXX* era, which would linger on for quite a while.
